SearchPanel set up to resolve 2G, 3G revenue segregation issue
The government has set up a sub-committee to resolve the 'problem' of second generation (2G) and third generation (3G) mobile services revenue segregation, Telecommunications Minister A. Raja said here Monday.

The government has set up a sub-committee to resolve the 'problem' of second generation (2G) and third generation (3G) mobile services revenue segregation, Telecommunications Minister A. Raja said here Monday.
"A sub-committee under my ministry has been formed to resolve this problem (2G and 3G revenue segregation) with a finance ministry representative in the committee," Raja told reporters on the sidelines of a telecom conference.
'The recommendations should be out in three to four weeks and we will take a call from there,' he said.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) is facing a tough time working out a procedure for the segregation of revenues between 2G and 3G services on account of complex splitting methods.
While the finance ministry, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and CDMA operators feel the separation can lead to revenue loss, GSM operators have told DoT that such a plan is feasible.
