Satya Paul, India’s premier design label showcased its collection ‘Kaleidoscope – Inspirations of truth’ at Hotel Galadari during the vogue lifestyle weekend later this May. The event was organized by the Rotary Club of Colombo Regency in association with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. Amongst a few known faces on the ramp were Femina Miss India World 2008 ‘Parvathy Omanakuttam’, Femina Miss India Earth 2008 ‘Tania Vyas’ and Miss Sri Lankas from 2007 and 2008. Bollywood Actor ‘Neha Dhupia’ was the show stopper for Satya Paul.

Kaleidoscope is a fusion compilation of four different stories from the Satya Paul studio and is a tribute to nature and art. It includes two collections inspired by nature that emphasize the need to conserve trees and wildlife. These collections include innovative prints and embellished saris highlighted with Swarovski crystals. These collections incorporate a bold and imaginative use of trees and animal motifs. Puneet Nanda of Satya Paul has used a multitude of vibrant hues such as turquoise, deep purple, flaming scarlet, orange, emerald green and bright blues to capture the essence of nature.

In addition to this, two art inspired collections complete the Kaleidoscope collection. Inspired by the works of ace artists of the 20th Century – Pablo Picasso and Rene Magritte, these art inspired collections convert the masterpieces of these artists into a range of wearable art, using saris and garments as its canvas. While Magritte’s collection is an extension of surrealism – his favored form of art, Picasso’s collection showcases garments inspired from his cubist style and paintings like the Girl before the mirror among others.

Talking about the collection, Puneet Nanda said, “ ‘Kaleidoscope’ presents the best of our designs and craftsmanship, showcased in a format that features four different, though correlated stories. Through this collection we want to highlight our strong focus on conserving the environment. The collections in the Kaleidoscope series are very contemporary and stylish and I hope these are appreciated”.
