Vedanta donates Rs 3 crore to Chief Minister's Relief fund

In the wake of the devastating floods in the state, the Vedanta Group has come forward to lend a helping hand to the flood affected people of Orissa. The Company has announced a donation of Rs. 3 crore for the CM's Relief Fund.

In the wake of the devastating floods in the state, the Vedanta Group has come forward to lend a helping hand to the flood affected people of Orissa. The Company has announced a donation of Rs. 3 crore for the CM’s Relief Fund.

Mr. Ajit Kumar Samal, Vice President, Commercial, Vedanta, handed over a cheque of Rs.3 crore to the Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Pattnaik at the secretariat today. Mr. Naveen Pattnaik thanked Vedanta for this support and said that more industrial houses should come forward to help out the people in distress. Vedanta is also donating 20000 pieces of HDPE tarpaulin sheets as relief material for the flood victims in the various districts of Orissa. At Puri, as desired by the District administration, Vedanta has already supplied 8 Metric Tons of polythene sheets, 3 Lakh food packets & water pouches to various blocks of the district. The relief activities are still continuing with the active support of the district administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr A K Samal said that Vedanta wishes to stand by the people of Orissa during these difficult times and deems it a privilege to be of any assistance in the recovery process of the flood victims. He also conveyed the personal concern of Vedanta group Chairman, Mr. Anil Agarwal for the flood affected people of the state. Mr. Agarwal has expressed hope that the life of people in the state will soon return to normalcy.

Recently Vedanta had provided relief material worth Rs. 2 crore to the flood affected people of North Bihar.
