One of the biggest construction shows in the country, Constru India 2008 is coming to Mumbai with its curtain raiser to give the industry a preview of what they can expect from this year's main exhibition to be held later this month.
Constru India 2008, which is the tenth edition of the popular all-India exhibition, was started with a vision to highlight the progress made so far in infrastructure construction sector and the policy initiatives taken by the Government. The exhibition aims to 'Showcase' the progress made in India to help strengthen 'Made in India' image for Indian technologies, expertise and services along with new technologies. Most of the industry regards Constru India as a platform for tie-ups, joint ventures & cooperation by inviting participation of international players from all over the world.
The 3-day conference in Mumbai will bring together business leaders from public & private sectors along with senior officers from central and state governments to address the development of India's Infrastructure Construction sector.
According to Mr. V. Ranganathan – Convener, CONSTRU India 2008 & Former Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra, "Over the last 10 years Constru India has been able to exhibit the capabilities of India in the construction and infrastructure sector. It has also been able to showcase the latest technologies available for the industry as well as infrastructural development both in India and around the globe. This gives a unique platform for participants to keep themselves abreast of developments. Furthermore, Constru India also highlights the enormous investment opportunity in the industry. On the last day of exhibition (Oct. 18th, 2008) we will be having a special session on urban infrastructure development followed by round table conference, which will be chaired by Mr. M. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry Urban Development, Government of India."
The event at Mumbai is already expected to draw record numbers. The officials from Constru India, who were present at the curtain raiser, also mentioned that a case study on the airports in India was going to be presented during the main event. The case study will deal with the redevelopment of airports in the country as well as address other infrastructure requirements around the same.
Commenting on the infrastructural issues and the exhibition, Mr. Indra Mohan, President, India Tech says, "India is acknowledged as the most resilient and fastest growing economy in the world, but infrastructure, both in rural and urban areas including transport connectivity, is a way below the standard achieved by other developing economies."
"Therefore with the bulk of the action in this sector, India Tech Foundation has identified the theme for 10th Constru India 2008, which is India raising to build world class urban infrastructure-challenges . The major focus would be on Metro rail Project and Airport Infrastructure project in this Contru India 2008 expo besides urban infrastructure," he added.
So, it looks as if all the roads for people associated with real estate and infrastructure head to Mumbai to attend Constru India 2008.
